Are GTA VI Platforms Confirmed: Where Can You Play?

The Big Question is Answered

Alongside the release date news, Rockstar finally clarified exactly **where** we'll be able to play Grand Theft Auto VI on day one. As expected, they are focusing on the current generation of consoles.

Confirmed Launch Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

On November 19, 2026, GTA VI will be released for the **PlayStation 5** and the **Xbox Series X/S** family of consoles. This means if you have either a Series X or the digital-only Series S, you are good to go. Rockstar is leveraging the power of these machines—their fast SSDs, ray-tracing capabilities, and advanced processing—to build the "most immersive" version of Vice City possible.

What About PC?

This is the one that stings for many. The **PC version will NOT be available at launch.** This follows Rockstar's long-standing tradition: release on consoles first, then follow up with a highly-polished PC port later. GTA V took over a year and a half; Red Dead 2 took just over a year. We can likely expect the PC version of GTA VI sometime in **2028**.

What About PS4 and Xbox One?

It's time to say goodbye. Rockstar has also confirmed that the game will **not** be coming to the previous generation of consoles (PlayStation 4 or Xbox One). The scope of the game is simply too large for that older hardware to handle. It's a true next-gen (now current-gen) title. If you're still on a PS4, you have one year to start saving up for an upgrade!
